چکیده

Ordered Model trees were introduced as a normal form for disjunctive deductive databases. They were also used to facilitate the computation of minimal models for disjunctive theories by exploiting the order imposed on the Herbrand base of the theory. In this work we show how the order on the Herbrand base can be used to compute perfect models of a disjunctive stratiied nite theory. We are able to compute the stable models of a general nite theory by combining the order on the elements of the Herbrand base with previous results that had shown that the stable models of a theory T can be computed as the perfect models of a corresponding disjunctive theory ET resulting from applying the so called evidential transformation to T. While other methods consider many models that are rejected at the end, the use of atom ordering allows us to guarantee that every model generated belongs to the class of models being computed. As for negation-free databases, the ordered tree serves as the canonical representation of the database.

Computing Relations in the Quantum Query Model

Query algorithms are used to compute mathematical functions. Classical version of this model is also known as decision trees. Quantum counterpart of decision trees – quantum query model – has been actively studied in recent years. Typically, query model is used to compute Boolean functions. In this paper, we consider computing mathematical relations instead of functions. A relation is a set of ...

Modeling and Estimating the Dimensions of Stable Alluvial Channels using Soft Calculations

In this research, soft computational models including multiple adaptive spline regression model (MARS) and data group classification model (GMDH) were used to estimate the geometric dimensions of stable alluvial channels including channel surface width (w), flow depth (h), and longitudinal slope (S) and the results of the developed models were compared with the multilayer neural network (MLP) m...

The 2-dimension of a Tree

Let $x$ and $y$ be two distinct vertices in a connected graph $G$. The $x,y$-location of a vertex $w$ is the ordered pair of distances from $w$ to $x$ and $y$, that is, the ordered pair $(d(x,w), d(y,w))$. A set of vertices $W$ in $G$ is $x,y$-located if any two vertices in $W$ have distinct $x,y$-location.A set $W$ of vertices in $G$ is 2-located if it is $x,y$-located, for some distinct...

Haplotype Block Partitioning and tagSNP Selection under the Perfect Phylogeny Model

Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) are the most usual form of polymorphism in human genome.Analyses of genetic variations have revealed that individual genomes share common SNP-haplotypes. Theparticular pattern of these common variations forms a block-like structure on human genome. In this work,we develop a new method based on the Perfect Phylogeny Model to identify haplo...

Model Selection for Mixture Models Using Perfect Sample

We have considered a perfect sample method for model selection of finite mixture models with either known (fixed) or unknown number of components which can be applied in the most general setting with assumptions on the relation between the rival models and the true distribution. It is, both, one or neither to be well-specified or mis-specified, they may be nested or non-nested. We consider mixt...
